Responsible Tourism

The concept of Responsible Tourism has gained global recognition and is being effectively implemented at several international and national tourist destinations across India. Recognizing the need of the hour, the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has initiated the implementation of Responsible Tourism practices from the year 2022 onwards.

As part of this initiative, MTDC has introduced responsible tourism practices across all its tourist accommodations through official guidelines and circulars. Several outreach and awareness programmes have also been conducted to support effective implementation.

A Step Towards Responsible Travel

As an initial step, MTDC issued various circulars to ensure the adoption of responsible tourism practices across all its tourist accommodations. In addition, MTDC has conducted several outreach and awareness programmes to support effective implementation.

In this context, MTDC has launched the Responsible Tourism initiative titled “Rethink Tourism Post Pandemic in the State of Maharashtra” As part of this initiative, Responsible Tourism logos have been developed in both Marathi and English MTDC has also designed and implemented the Responsible Traveler Programme

To enhance public awareness, MTDC has created display boards, informational videos, posters, place cards, and other creative communication materials highlighting responsible tourism practices.
